Synopsis
Thirteen-year-old Yasuoka Shion is a prodigy in the ancient Japanese strategy game of shogi. Since the brutal murder of her parents when she was five, she has lived as a silent player within the professional female Kishi circuit, having repressed much of her traumatic past. As her skill on the board grows, whispers regarding the unsolved crime begin to resurface. Shion must confront these forgotten memories and the dark secrets surrounding her family before they consume her.
