Shinsuke Takasugi

Shinsuke Takasugi returned from post-war exile with a bandaged left eye and a constant, unsettling smile. A former comrade of Gintoki and Katsura during the Joui war, he has since transitioned into an antagonist intent on dismantling the Bakufu regime. He operates as a precise, strategic assassin driven by the belief that total destruction is necessary to create a better world. While his interest in festivals often serves as a cover for large-scale attacks, it also masks a deep nihilism. Beyond his proficiency with the sword and the shamisen, the true nature of his remaining ties to Gintoki and Katsura stays hidden.
