Batou

Batou serves as the second-in-command of Section 9 and shares a long, complex history with Major Motoko Kusanagi. A former American Special Forces soldier, he is one of the unit's most heavily modified members due to extensive cybernetic enhancements. Despite this advanced hardware, he maintains certain superstitions regarding his ocular implants and struggles with body-image issues, often obsessing over physical training to preserve a sense of his original humanity.
