Bulma

Bulma is an inventor and Earthling defined by her intellect and sharp wit. Her name is a play on Japanese gym shorts ("Buruma") and early 20th-century bloomers, drawing inspiration from Xuanzang in "Journey to the West." Rather than acting as a mere supporting figure, her genius inventions-most notably the Dragon Radar-are central to the plot. Her search for the legendary Dragon Balls began with a simple desire for a perfect boyfriend, an errand that led to her meeting Son Goku. By offering to travel with him in exchange for use of his four-star ball, she formed an alliance that launched their long journey together. Throughout the series, she provides essential technical support and maintains a complicated relationship with Yamcha.
