Calcifer

Calcifer is a fallen star living under the care of the wizard Howl. To escape his celestial fate, he entered into a deal where he gave Howl his heart in exchange for immortality, creating a permanent bond between them. Both characters have grown increasingly unhappy with this arrangement over time. When Sophie Hatter arrives, Calcifer recognizes her hidden magic and realizes she has the power to break his curse. He proposes a trade: he will lift the Witch of Waste's spell from Sophie if she helps him sever his contract with Howl.
