Representing a rare subset of the body's immune defense, these specialized white blood cells exist in much smaller numbers than their counterparts. While they are primarily known to multiply rapidly when facing parasitic threats or allergic reactions, they possess a unique biological role. Despite being relatively physically weak compared to other cells, they maintain the essential ability to perform phagocytosis, allowing them to ingest and destroy invading pathogens just like standard white blood cells.
