Rescued by Kadomatsu after his courier plane went down during the Battle of Midway, this Imperial Japanese Navy Lieutenant Commander views his encounter with the Mirai as a chance to rewrite history. Driven by a vision of an undefeated nation he calls Zipang, he rejects both wartime militarism and postwar defeatism. While he respects Kadomatsu’s humanistic values, he views such compassion as a wartime luxury and is prepared to commit immense violence to achieve his altered destiny.
